The first true test…

Temptation: “Something that temps, entices, or allures”…

Today was only the second day of the WGSD Competition and wow was it a challenge for me.  People have been telling me that once I get past the 1st or 2nd week it will not be as bad. I sure hope they are right; since today was the longest day of the year it felt like the food cravings lasted forever.

My morning was not bad at all, since  breakfast isn’t a big part of my day and I don’t ever look forward to it. Since I get up around 6:30am that is way too early for me to eat. So I had a yogurt around 8:45am while I was at work. By the time 10-10:30am rolled around I was ready for a snack. I had one apple and that was just enough for me until lunch time rolled around.

Ok, this was when the fun began.. ( Can you hear the sarcasm in my voice??)

Lunch time rolled around, and usually in the office we all decide what everyone is going to eat and then send one person out to pick it all up. I clearly stated to my 5 other co workers that I will not be taking part in our normal routine for lunch. Of course they forgot, so they all came to my desk and asked what was for lunch, and they shared what they wanted to eat. I think they could tell by the look on my face that they forgot I’m not eating out anymore! It was funny though because after that they all scattered and went to deliberate on what they were going to have for lunch. I went into the club house and got my salad and fruit from the fridge. I was happy to see that one of my co workers Millie decided to bring a salad as well from home. Then, Vanessa came in with…. La Nop!!! That is one of my favorite restaurants. It smelled so good, and I felt like I could jump across the table and eat one of her tacos! BUT… I didn’t. (: I tried to finish my salad as fast as I could to get out of the clubhouse and to get back to work so I wouldn’t have to see her eat La Nop.

Around 3:30ish, I became a little hungry again and I had another apple to eat. That held me over until it was time for dinner. I was planning on having another salad for dinner, until I received a call from my mom indicating we were going to have dinner at my grandaddy’s house. As I pulled up to my grandaddy’s house I was told there was Texas toast, baked beans, pulled pork, chips and other food in the kitchen. The house smelled so good and I knew that I was going to give in to the Texas toast and the chips. As I sat at the table I looked over and saw everyone eating. I asked my mom to make me a plate of food. In the back of my head I was so excited, that I was going to have a piece of toast and chips, but realistically I knew that was not going to happen. When she returned the plate to me; it contained…. 1 celery stick, 1/2 cucumber, 1 tablespoon of baked beans and 2 oz of bbq pork.  Needless to say I finished my plate; besides I left one celery stick on my plate. (I’m not a fan of celery).

So I have to say that there were many temptations  today, but I rose above them all and came out in victory!

It is time for me to call it a night, first day to work out with Jackie Culver and the girls at memorial park bright and early!
